The information in this book was written as one parent speaking with another to be a guide to the various learning disabilities. I have two children who had special needs and two grandchildren, also with special needs. When I was raising my children, I had no idea where to turn for information when I needed it. Later, I became a PEC (Parent Educator Coordinator) for Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency and wrote a bi-monthly newsletter and a website tab for parents who had children with special needs. One of the most important jobs we do for our children is to help them be happy and to be successful in life by helping them utilize their strengths and improve on their weaknesses. I have included many excellent website links and additional reading materials as resources to help you can find additional information and tools that I hope will be very helpful to you in your journey with your child.

One of the important things we can do for our children is to get involved in our child's education. Unfortunately, too many parents do not know how to do that. This book opens up a new world for parents of children with learning disabilities. I add that it is also a useful resource for teachers of children with learning disabilities and for teachers in general because too often children are baffled by the lack of performance of some children. If they have the tool to help them to take a closer they might discover at least one learning disability.The book tells you how to establish good relationships with your child's teachers; about special tests and how they affect teachers and your children.
The book covers several learing disabilities. Some are new to me and I have no doubt that they make the teacher's job much more difficult but just as needed and essential to the development of our children.
I am pleased that the book covers the difficult job that parents of children with learning difficulties have and advises that they seriously pay attention to their own health. It advises them on what they should do.
There are plenty of resources for parents and children.
To the author I shout Bravo!! It is a "Must Have" book for parents with children with Learning Disabilities (and for teachers too).

I was attracted to look into book due to the words in the description "this book was written as one parent speaking with another to be a guide to the various learning disabilities."
The author is not new to this, but an expert. Why do I say that? Author has helped 4 kids who have special needs grow up in their life. This book is for all parents form Parent Educator Coordinator of Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency.
This book helps you make the lives of such kids happy and make them believe that they can succeed in their lives. If you want that for your kid, then this book is a must read.
